Harry Potter helped keep Brian Moore safe.
Moore, 13, of South Sioux City, Neb., was in his tent Wednesday evening at the Little Sioux Scout Ranch, reading a copy of the last of the Harry Potter books, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.''
When he heard the tornado sirens sound, Moore ran, book in hand, to a cabin, said his mother, Deborah.

Moore got under a table and used the book to shield his face. He could hear debris hitting the other side of the book as the tornado raked the building, his mother said.
Even though the building fell down around him, Moore, who will be an eighth-grader at South Sioux City Middle School, suffered only a bump on the head and a cut on the hand.
"We're all very relieved he's OK,'' she said.
Moore was able to call his parents about 12:30 a.m. after borrowing a rescue worker's cell phone.Deborah and Steve Moore had been waiting at West Harrison High School in Mondamin, Iowa, to hear whether their son was alive.
"We were worried, hoping and praying he was OK,'' Deborah Moore said. "We were concerned about all the boys.''
Deborah Moore said the family spent Thursday morning buying replacements for what Brian lost in the tornado -- his camping gear, tent, clothes and sleeping bag.
"He came out of there with just the clothes on his back and his Harry Potter book,'' she said. "
Aww.
